Founded and conducted by The Hyderabad (Sind) National Collegiate Board, Thadomal Shahani Engineering College (TSEC) is recognised by Government of Maharashtra. TSEC is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Government of India. Graded `A` by the Government of Maharashtra, TSEC is affiliated to the University of Mumbai since 1983.TSEC offers 4-year Bachelor of Engineering (BE) Degree programme in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Information Technology.
The College is developed upto Post-Graduate level and is imparting instructions for Full-Time courses in M.E (Electronics & Telecommunication) 25 Seats and M.E(Computer Engineering)25 seats.

ACADEMICS
Academic performance of TSEC students has been excellent and consistently TSEC has been producing rank holders in the University of Mumbai. TSEC students have been performing excellent in sports and cultural activities as well and they have won several Trophies/Medals in various inter-college competitions. TSEC students figure in the National team of Badminton and Rifle Shooting. Since 1995 TSEC has been hosting the "Inter-Engineering Football Tournament" which presents Rotating Trophies to Winner and Runner-up teams.Since 2000,TSEC has been hosting the "Inter-Engineering Cultural Festival",TRIFLES which presents several attractive prizes.

LIBRARY
TSEC has a spacious library having more than 17000 Technical books costing about Rupees 38 Lacs. The library also subscribes to National/International Journals/Periodicals amounting to about Rupees 2 Lacs per year. TSEC has one impressive Seminar Hall with a capacity of 100 seats. TSEC is making all efforts to equip its laboratories with the modern equipments. In the process, TSEC has acquired many Pentiums, Digital Storage Oscilloscope, Image Processing System, Colour Scanner, Colour and Laser Printers, Process Control Equipments, etc. TSEC has installed Networking facility in the entire campus, which provides server facilities of Novell NetWare, Windows NT and UNIX. This Network is connected to INTERNET providing e-mail facility in all the departments.

FACULTY
Every year TSEC sponsors faculty members for P.G. & Ph.D. courses in reputed institutes. Teachers are also deputed to attend short-term Refresher Courses and Seminars/Conferences/Workshops/Tutorials. etc, organised by various institutions and professional bodies all over the country.

TSEC has organised several Short-term Courses and Seminars for engineering college teachers and engineers from Industries and R&D organisations on the topics of current interest e.g. Fiber Optics, Database Management Systems, Image Processing, Microprocessors,VLSI,Wireless Communications, PID Controllers, etc. Teachers in TSEC have published technical books on the subjects of Industrial Automation, Optical Fiber Communication, Digital Communication, Microcomputer System Design, Applied Chemistry, Computer Programming, Material Science, Communication Engineering, etc.

STUDENT ENRICHMENT
TSEC is approved by the Institution of Engineers (India).TSEC has student branches of professional societies like IE (I), IETE, ISTE, IIChE,CSI,IEEE (USA).
The college has its own Management Society (MS) which conducts students activities and prepares them for various aspects of management which includes Mock GRE programme for engineering graduates from Mumbai aspiring for Post-BE Engineering studies in USA.
The college also has its own TSEC spiritual Foundation(TSF) which provides the platform for Spiritual Upliftment of Students.
TSEC is the first Engineering college under Mumbai University to start National Service Scheme (NSS) activities for the students which conducts Adult Literacy Camp, Blood Donation Camp, etc. every year.

Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), USA, an International professional organisation, has established a student Branch in TSEC which has 4 Society chapters viz. Computer Society Chapter, Communication Society Chapter, EMBS Society Chapter and Industrial Electronics Society Chapter.

ALUMINI
The TSEC Alumni Association has been formed in the year 1994, which has been conducting the "Social get-together" and "Alumni Day" every year. The Alumni Association has been felicitating every year members of the "Decade completing Batch" who have completed 10 years after passing from TSEC. The Alumni Association has also instituted a "Distinguished Alumnus Award" to be presented every year.

INTERNATIONAL AFFILIATION
TSEC has established some tie-ups with foreign universities viz. NJIT (USA), Union College (USA), University of West Georgia (USA) ,University of NEW Mexico (USA), Southern Polytechnic State Universities for Post-BE studies in Engineering and Management. This facilitates Student Exchange and Faculty Exchange programmes between TSEC and Foreign Universities.

RECOGNITION
TSEC has been granted approval for two research projects on "System Automation" and "Fiber Optics Communication System" by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi and has received research grants of Rs 5 Lacs and Rs 5.5 Lacs respectively.

TSEC Chemical Engineering students have won prizes in Environmental Design Contest Organised by WERC(Waste Management Education and Research Consortium)in New Mexico,USA in the year 2001,2002,2003,and have also won 3 prizes in the Design Contest organised by UAE University in Dubai in the year 2002.
