TSEC is one the pioneers in India to establish the Department of Biomedical
Engineering (BME), as early as in 1983, offering a full time four year BE
degree program. BME program combines a rich educational experience and an
interdisciplinary environment that prepares our graduates to be quality engineers
and leaders in integrating engineering and biology to meet the ever-increasing needs
of biomedical industry & hospital. The biomedical engineering requires an understanding
of Human Anatomy and Physiology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Engineering
disciplines like Electronics, Computers, Mechanical, etc. The Department has dedicated
core faculty and also keeps in pace with the recent technology by arranging invited
guest lecturers by experts in the Biomedical industry, hospital and research organization.

The Department has following five Laboratories which are well equipped with latest equipments:

Internet facility is available to all the students.
Major Equipments:
We have more than 235 equipments. Some of them are: ECG Machine,
Cardiac Monitor, Oximeter, Physiograph, Spirometer, Ultrasound Machine,
Audiometer, Spectrophotometer, Defibrillator, Surgical Diathermy etc.
Admissions in TSEC is done on CET merit basis.
BE Results:
Every Year the students secure ranks at University Level maintaining the highest percentage of 84% - 85% .
Higher Studies:
- Students also appear for competitive exams like GRE, CAT, UPSC, GATE and perform well.
- 70 - 75% Students pursue higher education in India and abroad.

- IEEE EMBS Students Chapter has won the Best Student Chapter Award in the years 2003 & 2005.
- ‘Pulse’- an intercollegiate technical event conducted by IEEE EMBS Students Chapter is held
every year which includes seminars, workshops quizzes etc.
- ‘Cerebration’ an intercollegiate technical paper presentation is also held annually.
- Students present papers/ posters at various technical events.
- Two of our students, Mr. Kanak Mhatre and Mr. Vikas Yadav won second prize in Asia's largest
technical festival, IIT TECHFEST, held in January 08 at IIT Bombay.
