Academic Programs:
Every student, who enters TSEC and passes out as a graduate, must study at least 3-4 subjects offered by DEE. Thus during the first year all students, irrespective of their branch of specialization, study two courses on Basic Electrical and Electronics Engineering. In the presently fast changing technological environment every modern engineer must have a certain degree of familiarity with Electronics Engineering. This is the primary aim of this basic course.
A special one-semester course on Electrical and Electronics Engineering has been devised for the second year Chemical Engineering students, after which officially they do not come to DEE. On the contrary, students specializing in Computer and Biomedical Engineering follow more or less the same second year syllabus, as adopted by Electronics Engineering students. Considering the perceptibly heavy influence of development in Electronics on these branches of engineering, thorough knowledge of Electronics is really necessary for their future effective contribution as practicing engineers. In later semester some o these students do study a couple of courses on Integrated circuits and Digital Signal Processing offered by DEE faculty.
As far as our students are concerned, in addition to discrete transistor electronics. They study integrated electronics system very extensively. While courses on Electronics Devices and Circuits lead to Analogue ICs, generally speaking Logic Circuit syllabus works as a foundation for Digital ICs. There are two more follow up courses, emphasizing on various aspects of circuit design and system approach of IC applications.
In senior years our students are exposed to a lot of Communication Engineering, Microwave engineering, Image Processing, Microprocessor system design, TV and Satellite communication, digital and data communication systems. In the recently revised syllabus we have a definite stress on automation, robotics and Embedded system engineering, VLSI, Wireless Communication and Fiber optical communication too.
Of course, instrumentation is an integrated Workhorse in any engineer's life. Here microprocessors play an important role. We offer three courses on microprocessors gradually leading to the most modern Pentium architecture. The courses are extremely popular amongst the students.
Thus, academically in DETC we strive to impart instructions to mould a complete electronics engineer. The knowledge is extremely broad based. We are confident that thus equipped, our students are quite successful as future professional engineer.
